If you haven't noticed, it's Art Week in Cape Town with @investeccapetownartfair. I consider myself a successful failed artist - successful because I figured out 1.5 years in at Michaelis art school that being an Artist was not my thing. The world of creative business was a much better fit. But one of the most rewarding ventures I've ever taken part in has been the launch of our CS&Co artists collection in 2020 where we have been given access to the works of real artists and have brought their work to life on walls in every conceivable space and place. Watching the reactions of these artists to seeing their work used in such diverse contexts has been not only rewarding, but very much full circle for me. Those that cant teach? The Claremont Boutique Hotel — part of the Sabi Sabi family — started life as a century-old manor house and has now been beautifully restored into an intimate boutique hotel right in the middle of Claremont. @dakotadesignsa thank you for selecting our wallpaper to grace these wise walls and to the team at @theclaremontboutiquehotel for welcoming us so warmly to shoot. When we were asked last year to join this incredible team of craftsman and creators, we actually had no idea that it would turn into this. This being the most BEAUTIFUL feat of interior design telling the story of an exceptional South African talent- @thebemagugu. The team at @studiolandt_ held the vision tightly with Thebe and we did what we do best....deliver custom wall designs that hit the brief. To be honest, it was one of our easiest projects of the year because everyone had a clear vision. Thank you for including us in this labor of love. And Vogue baby!! South Africa....you make the rest of the world look bleh (am I allowed to say that? OK not bleh but I'm so flipping proud of this nation of ours). Photos by @inge_prins.

What is the first element of this space that you see? Silly question right? The ceiling is finally being given a chance to truly shine especially in spaces like restaurants where you want to capture people's attention but still keep the focus on the food. For those that dont know, this is the new @doppiozerosa in Sea Point in what was the Seven Spurs. We did wallpaper on curved and rounded ceilings - not an easy feat (dont try that at home) and the results are fresh, engaging and so very doppio. #restaurantdesign #capetown #carasavenwallpaper

Our CS&Co artists have to bring something different to the table. They have to offer something that's fundamentally different from anything else you would find in our main range of over 3500 designs. The work of @koooooos fits that bill in so many ways. His work captures irony, humor, nuance, and zeitgeist in ways that we just never could. And being given access to all his doodles and mixed media to bring to life on a larger scale feels like such a privilege. This is a small taste of what's to come, but I know that many of you have asked for more, so here you go. Thank you @curatorial_edge for introducing us to the work and thank you @koooooos for trusting us with your talent. Public service announcement (in peak hour traffic) regarding screens and colour. This here @mrchandlerhouse wallpaper for @_alexanderhouse is a perfect example of screen colour vs printed colour. Look at the wallpaper in this image and then look at the phone screen of the wallpaper. Which is the accurate one? Neither to be 100% honest.
